John is a tough old coot. He is the only person in Michigan to stand up and say "MDA, you will not cut my healthy ash trees." I admire him and wish I could be more like him. Luckily, my ash trees are not in the area that the state wants to cut this month. I live down the road a bit and I'm sure that I will be on their list later this year or maybe next year. And, if I am not on their list, it will only be because they ran out of money. If I don't stand with him to protect his trees now I will be allowing the state to divide us and conquer us. John is made out by the MDA to be a man who refuses to comply with government regulations, thereby endangering the ash trees of everyone else in the State of Michigan, Canada and the rest of the United States. He is actually a man who should be admired for not letting a system fraught with legal problems and poorly conceived and managed programs squash him like a bug. Not everyone agrees with everything that John does but I have to say that he is a man of honor and I am proud to be his friend.
